Allow more control over when email reminders are sent.
In the old version it was possible to specify which event categories reminder emails were sent for and which ones they were not sent for. In the new version, it seems to be all or nothing. This is very inconvenient for some teachers who don't want to "spam" their clients with reminders of regularly occurring lessons, but they do want to send reminders for things like recitals and other non-regular events.
