Using The File Area

The File Area in Music Teacher’s Helper allows you to store documents, images, , sheet music, audio files, videos, and more. These files can be shared privately with your students, or made public on your Music Teacher’s Helper Studio Website. Whether you want to share recordings of lessons or performances, assign worksheets to your students, or keep a digital record of your paper files, the File Area makes it easy.

To access the File Area, click “Website” from the menu on the left, then click “File area”.

Uploading a New File

To upload a new file, click the “Upload a New File” button above the file list.

On the next screen you can either drag and drop a file, or select one from somewhere on your computer. You can also drag multiple files at once.

Enter a description for the file. If you want to organize your files into folders, you can choose the folder here, or create a new one.

If you want the file to be public, choose to show it “On my studio website”. If you only want to share the file with specific students, then choose “After students login” and select which students will have access to the file.

Click Submit.

Student View of Files

Your students will be able to view the files you’ve given them access to after they login, by clicking the “File Area” link under “Dashboard” on the main menu.  Only the preview and download options will be available to them.

Viewing Files

Your uploaded files will appear on the lower half of the screen while in the File Area. To the right of each file is a set of icons: The icons to the right represent

  • viewpngPreview. This gives you a quick preview of the file within your browser. Some files will not have a “quick view” button because that file type isn’t yet supported. To view a file like this, simply click the download button and open it on your computer.

  • green_arrow_001png Download. This allows you or your students to download the file to the computer.

  • editpng Edit. This allows you to make changes to the uploaded file description. However, to make changes to the file itself, you will want to delete and re-upload a new file.

  • trashpng Remove. Use this to delete a file.

Above the file list, you can see how much free space you have available for more files. This number will change as you upload files.
